New Water Coaster is called Atlantica

When Europa-Park opens this year's season on March 19th, visitors can look forward to a brand-new attraction. The visitors of Europa-Park's homepage and the readers of a popular weekly journal, could vote on the name of the new roller coaster. Now it's official: the new ride will be called "Atlantica?.

The new water coaster is the first component of the Portuguese themed area, which will be completed in 2006. The Mack family, owners of Europa-Park, invest approximately 5 million Euro in the spectacular new attraction. With a height of 30 meters, the "Atlantica? SuperSplash is the park's second highest roller coaster (the highest roller coaster is the "Silver Star? with a height of 73 meters). A world novelty is a track section, where the coaster faces backward, which has never been realized before with boats of this size.

Several thousand people participated in a prize contest to vote on the name of the new rollercoaster: 77 % favoured the name "Atlantica? for the new water coaster, 16 % voted for "Navigato? and 7 % thought that the new ride should be called "Aquaypse?.
