When did the idea to open Europa-Park come up for the first time?

The idea was born after a visit to Disneyland in Los Angeles. Franz Mack, senior director of Europa-Park, and his son Roland came up with it. They bought an area of 12 hectares in Rust. Just 4 years later, they were able to realise their plans. The park was opened on July 12th 1975.
