Since April 2024, Voltron Nevera powered by Rimac, the newest, innovative rollercoaster has been fascinating visitors at Europa-Park. The multi-launch coaster in the Croatian themed area not only impresses visitors, but also the entire theme park industry: At the end of 2024, the coaster novelty was awarded the coveted TEA Thea Award by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) for outstanding achievements in the Attractions category. The prestigious award is one of the highest accolades in the amusements industry and was, on this occasion, given to the Mack family at the Thea Award Gala in Los Angeles.
Voltron Nevera awarded the renowned TEA Thea Award
Europa-Park thereby joins the ranks as the first European theme park, alongside Disney and Universal, of a renowned group. Up to now, only two other rollercoasters have been given the coveted Thea Award worldwide, with these now including the Voltron Nevera.
“We’re extremely pleased about the TEA Thea Award for the Voltron Nevera. Rollercoasters receive this honour only very rarely. This underlines how unique, innovative and exciting the rollercoaster is and, to us, confirms the commitment of all the involved business departments in the MACK Group to this extraordinary attraction,” says Michael Mack, Managing Director of Europa-Park (and, amongst others, responsible for MACK Rides) and CEO of MACK One. He accepted the honour at the gala alongside his sister, Ann-Kathrin Mack, Managing Director of Europa-Park and responsible for MACK Solutions and Marketing, and his wife, Miriam Mack, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia and Head of Corporate Health Management of the MACK Group.
Europa-Park owner, Roland Mack: “This award proves yet again that, with Europa-Park, we’re setting standards around the world. Voltron Nevera stands for what Europa-Park, for 50 years, has been known for: An incomparable blend of creativity, quality and passion”.
With the Voltron Nevera, the overall experience particularly impressed the jury – from the storytelling to the tone-setting up to the coaster itself. It offers such numerous innovative ride elements as, for example, the steepest launch in the world at 105 degrees, as well as fascinating stories. The 1,385-metre-length multi-launch coaster meanders through an authentic Croatian landscape. Light limestone, ruins and pieces of wall, as well as a number of plants, one of which is also an 800-year-old olive tree make for Mediterranean flair. The history surrounding the scientist and inventor Nikola Tesla, born in what is now Croatia, who, with the help of the legendary Adventure Club of Europe, rang the electric age in, is a common thread running through the attraction and theme area. The ‘Stryker Coaster’ has been developed by MACK Rides, by numerous trade and business sectors of the whole MACK Group. This has created a unique overall experience.
