New Winter Highlight in Europa-Park

Ice Bar "Glaciar": Ice-cold drinks in a "cool" setting

Even winter in Spain can turn into an ice-cold experience at Europa-Park! Hotblooded guests will be treated to a very special highlight during the "magical Winter Weeks? this year: the new Ice Bar "Glaciar? for ice-cold drinks in an icy ambience at below-zero temperatures.

30 tons of ice, granulated snow, minus 11° C: sounds more like the ice grotto in the Swiss glacial village of Saas-Fee, where an ice-carved Europa-Park mascot has been welcoming visitors for ten years running, than like a bar in sunny Spain! But frosty fun in a Southern-style setting awaits guests this winter in Europa-Park.

The new Ice Bar "Glaciar? serves ice-cold drinks in a glacial setting at below-zero temperatures to up to 30 guests at a time. Amid filigree ice sculptures, guests wrapped up in special Scandinavian-made insulating overcoats can savour their beverages and the extraordinary ambience of the bar, whose frosty furnishings are made entirely out of blocks of translucent ice. (At these below-zero temperatures, however, guests will want to limit their cocktail breaks to 20 minutes at a time.)
What's more, the Ice Bar "Glaciar? puts a whole new spin on the concept of ice-cold drinks: there's no need to fill glasses with icecubes, for the glasses themselves are made of ice! Cocktails with and without alcohol, with names to fit the yuletide season like "Santa Claus?, "Knecht Ruprecht? (St. Nick's helper) or "Weihnachtsstern? (Christmas star), couldn't be served colder in this authentically styled setting.

All in all, it took over 600 iceblocks with a total weight of about 30 tons to build the 54 m2 premises. The blocks were made by means of a special "slow-growth? process that preserves the crystal-clear structure of the ice. An iceblock takes roughly 85 hours to "grow? to its "true? size.

With its combination of a truly frosty ambience and Southern Spanish-style architecture, Europa-Park's new Ice Bar "Glaciar? is a one-of-a-kind attraction in Germany and an ideal location for hotblooded visitors. During the "magical Winter Weeks?, the ice bar is open daily from 10.30 am to 10 pm, so guests at any of the three 4-star hotels "El Andaluz?, "Castillo Alcazar? and "Colosseo?  can relish a frosty nightcap in glacial "Spain? before turning in for the night. For anyone wishing to get a first impression of this "cool? new winter attraction before heading for Europa-Park, the latest Webcam images of the Ice Bar "Glaciar? are available on Europa-Park's homepage.

The Ice Bar "Glaciar? was created with the kind support of Coca-Cola, Eckes Granini, Bacardi and Campari. Europa-Park is open daily from 11 am to 7 pm during the winter season from 2 December to 7 January (except 24/25 December).
