On the occasion of a contest regarding the name of Europa-Park's new hotel, 84 % of all readers of the daily paper "BILD? have voted for "Santa Isabel?.

Rainha Santa Isabel, also known as Saint Elisabeth of Portugal, was not only exceptionally beautiful but also famous for her great virtuousness. From 1282 until 1325 she was the queen of Portugal and her charitableness today is still remembered in the miracle of the roses. According to this legend she was taking bread to the poor and one day her husband King Dionysius of Portugal asked her what she was carrying, because he did not want to support his wife's wastefulness. When Santa Isabel showed him the content of her basket, the bread was miraculously transformed into roses, thereby appeasing her husband.
The name of the new hotel, which is designed in the style of an old Portuguese monastery, is especially suitable, because Santa Isabel has spent the years after her husband's death in a cloister.

Monastery life with a difference: from 1 July on the new 4-star theme hotel "Santa Isabel? offers the unique ambience of an ancient Portuguese monastery combined with all comforts of a modern 4-star hotel. A total of 290 beds, conference rooms for up to 600 persons, a beautifully themed wellness and spa area as well as a pool with monastery garden will be available for overnight guests of Europa-Park.
